On the Hyderabad–Bangalore highway at Muchintal rises Samatha Murthy — Bhagavad Ra:ma:nuja:cha:rya seated in meditation, 216 feet high, cast in panchaloha (gold, silver, copper, brass and zinc). Every measurement of the monument — 216, 108, 54, 36 — reduces to the number 9, the number of the Acharya.
It is not only a statue: the Padma Peetam below carries 54 lotus petals and 36 elephants, a 135-foot tridandam, and 108 ceremonial steps. Each evening the complex glows with the Samatha Neerajanam harathi and a laser show telling Ra:ma:nuja:cha:rya's thousand-year-old message of equality to visitors from every nation.
