Hanuman - The Beautiful Bridge

Rama, the noble prince of Ayodhya, was sent into exile for fourteen years, journeying into the forest with his devoted wife, Sitha, and loyal brother, Lakshmana. During their time in the wilderness, tragedy struck—the demon king Ravana abducted Sitha.

Determined to rescue her, Rama and Lakshmana joined forces with Hanuman, Sugriva, and an army of millions of valiant vanara warriors, crossing the mighty ocean to wage war against Ravana.

In the fierce clash between Rama and Ravana’s forces, Indrajit’s blazing missile struck with devastating power. Rama, Lakshmana, and the vast monkey army fell lifeless and silent upon the battlefield—only Hanuman and Vibhishana remained untouched. Guided by the wisdom of Jambavan, Hanuman set out to fetch four divine herbs: Mrita Sanjivani to restore life, Vishalya Karani to remove pain, Suvarna Karani to heal wounds, and Sandhani to mend the broken bones. Yet the herbs hid themselves, their radiance concealed from mortal sight.

Rama, the noble prince of Ayodhya, was sent into exile for fourteen years, journeying into the forest with his devoted wife, Sitha, and loyal brother, Lakshmana. During their time in the wilderness, tragedy struck—the demon king Ravana abducted Sitha.

But the war was far from over. Later, in a deadly duel with Ravana, Lakshmana was struck down once more—this time by the demon king’s fearsome spear. Rama’s arrows forced Ravana into retreat, but Lakshmana lay pale and unmoving. The healer Sushena declared that the Sanjivani was needed again. Hanuman sped to Mount Mahodara, yet once more the sacred herbs evaded his recognition. Without hesitation, he lifted the entire mountain and returned. Sushena prepared the life-giving medicine, and Lakshmana awoke, his vigor restored.

Twice did Hanuman soar to the skies, twice did he bear the mountain in his mighty grasp, and twice did he breathe new life into a battlefield of fallen warriors. From that day forward, he has been remembered with eternal reverence as Sanjeevani Hanuman—the Divine Bearer of Life.

The epic Sri Ramayana reveals Hanuman not just as a mighty warrior, but as a divine connector, uniting people, beings, and even realms:

Bridge between Humans and Animals

When Lord Rama sought to rescue Sitha from Ravana, it was Hanuman who connected him to Sugriva and the Vanara army, turning potential into a powerful alliance.

Bridge between Humans and Demons

When Vibhishana, demon Ravana's noble brother, sought refuge, Hanuman alone advised Rama to accept him, demonstrating deep insight and compassion beyond creed, species, or race.

Bridge across Fear and Doubt

Faced with an ocean, the vanara army froze in despair. It was Hanuman's leap of faith that lifted their spirits and pushed the mission forward.

Bridge between Life and Death

To save Lakshmana, Hanuman lifted the Sanjivani-bearing mountain, connecting nature's healing power to human life.

Bridge between Athma and Paramathma

Hanuman reunited Mother Sitha (the soul) with Lord Rama (the Supreme Being), serving as the eternal Sundara Sethu, the beautiful bridge between the seeker and the divine.

In every life situation, Hanuman shows us how to connect, unify, and uplift.

Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji gave the divine mantra, O:m Sundara Se:thave: Namaha

that venerates Hanuman, the beautiful bridge.

Let us regularly chant this mantra to bestow us with Hanuman’s energy and ability and to invoke the grace of Sanjeevani Hanuman.

Sanjeevani Hanuman inspires us to build bridges between all communities, embracing diverse backgrounds and identities.
